Gourmet Blender Hot Chocolate

When I think about the holiday season I think of four things: family, food, gifts and hot chocolate. Ok wait, I’m going to cheat a little and add a fifth thing, traditions because it’s my blog & I can do what I want, ha! What are the first few things that come to your mind?

I think we can all agree that the holiday season is one of the busiest [if not the busiest] time of year! I’m always looking for ways to make life easier, especially in the month of December so I can spend more time doing fun family traditions, buying + wrapping gifts [that I’ve purchased online because ain’t nobody got time to drag your 2 year old into 18 different stores] and getting together with friends + family instead of being overwhelmed, stressed and wishing Christmas was over. Something I do is use my Vitamix blender for a variety of different quick and easy recipes. Not only do they take less than 10 minutes to prepare, but the entire family actually enjoys them! The best part; 90% of the time you can mix all the ingredients in the blender which creates less dishes. IMO it’s one of the best features of the Vitamix blender because washing dishes SUCKS said every person ever, ami’right?

The A2500 Ascent Series Vitamix blender is really the jack of all trades. Not only can you make a variety of different dips, sauces, marinades, entrees, desserts, juices, smoothies, etc but the “hot soup” program allows you to make endless hot recipes, including soups[duh], hot beverages [like the delicious gourmet hot chocolate recipe I’m about to share with you] and more.

Here’s how to make hot chocolate in your Vitamix blender in under 10 minutes using 5 ingredients. Say goodbye to the powdered crap and hello to the creamiest, most delicious hot coco you’ll ever have in your life.

Ingredients
3 cups of milk [any milk of choice – typically I use 2% for an extra creamy consistency but for a healthier alternative almond milk would be delicious]
1 1/2 cups of chocolate chips [white, milk or dark – feel free to mix for added flavour]
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/8 tsp sea salt
1/4 tsp flavour extract [optional but SO good]

Bonus Ingredients
Whipped topping
Marshmallows
Sprinkles
Candy cane pieces
Grated cinnamon
Coconut shavings

Instructions
1. Add all ingredients to your Vitamix blender
2. Set the Vitamix A2500 Ascent Series blender to the Hot Soup program and turn the machine on.
3. Serve immediately [unless it’s for the kiddos then pour it into a cup + set it in the fridge for a few minutes ;)]

FYI a few of my favourite flavoured extracts are orange, peppermint and raspberry. SO good you guys!
